Arizona Coyotes weekly loan and extension recap

By Kyle Hildebrand

The Coyotes continue their offseason-work after signing various free agents to fill the gaps in their roster. With the perspective shifting from the outside looking in, Arizona focused on winger Christian Fischer.

Fischer has notched 35 goals and 63 points over his four-year career so far. Not relied on for his scoring dexterities, Fischer is needed for his ‘big-body’ presence to get in on the forecheck.

Fischer’s grittiness will likely be paired with new-comer John Hayden and current forward Lawson Crouse. With the departure of Carl Soderberg, Fischer’s re-sign sustains toughness to the Coyotes’ lineup, which is something they desperately need.

In other news: The Coyotes announced Sunday forward Barrett Hayton will play in Finland until the start of the NHL season. Hayton will play for the Tampereen Ilves in the SM-liiga.

Prospect Liam Kirk signed in Sweden with the Hanhals Kings. He played for the Peterborough Petes in the CHL. He registered 21 goals, 50 points overall in 47 games last season.
